The monthly “Walk for Fitness” exercise organised by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, has officially commenced for the year 2026, reinforcing the state’s commitment to employee wellness and healthy living.

Eko Hot News reports that the exercise attracted a large turnout of civil servants from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including several Permanent Secretaries, at the Adeyemi Bero premises of the Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja.

Participants converged early at the usual take-off point before proceeding on the designated walking route along Obafemi Awolowo Way towards the Allen/Ikeja axis, under a coordinated and orderly environment.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) played a dual role during the exercise, ensuring smooth traffic flow along the route while also joining the walk, reflecting its support for wellness initiatives and active community engagement.

Officials of LASTMA were visibly present to manage vehicular movement, prevent congestion and guarantee the safety of participants throughout the duration of the exercise.

The strong participation recorded at the event highlighted the growing awareness among Lagos State employees of the importance of physical fitness and regular exercise as part of a balanced lifestyle.

Observers noted that the exercise also provided an avenue for interaction and camaraderie among public servants across different MDAs, strengthening workplace cohesion outside the formal office setting.
