The Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) is set to commence a renewed statewide grassroots awareness campaign across all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to deepen residents’ registration in Lagos State.

Eko Hot News reports that the Agency said the sensitisation drive is aimed at reinforcing the importance of registering every resident, including newborns, while engaging community stakeholders to address concerns around data privacy, accessibility, and misconceptions about the registration process.

LASRRA described the initiative as a strategic, non-punitive approach designed to build a reliable residents’ database that reflects Lagos State’s true demographics and supports effective planning, security, and service delivery in line with the State’s smart city vision.

As part of the campaign, the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola, alongside senior officials of the Agency, visited Isolo Local Council Development Area, where they met with the LCDA Chairman, Otunba Adebayo Olasoju, and Chairmen of Community Development Associations (CDAs).

During the engagement, Adebiyi-Abiola emphasised that the sensitisation tour would reassure residents about data protection, highlight the ease of registration, and promote the Lagos State Resident Identity Card as a vital tool for identification and access to government services.

She explained that registering all residents, from infants to adults, is essential for accurate data planning, improved governance, and enhanced security across the State.

The LASRRA team also held an interactive session with market women in Isolo, educating them on the benefits of registration and encouraging them to ensure their households, including newborns, are captured in the database.

Commending the initiative, Otunba Olasoju urged residents to take registration seriously, noting that access to empowerment programmes and social interventions would depend largely on LASRRA documentation.
