The Lagos State Government has advised intending Christian pilgrims to remain spiritually focused during the forthcoming pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan.

Eko Hot News reports that the advice was given at a one-day orientation seminar held at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja.

The seminar was organised to prepare pilgrims for the spiritual and physical demands of the holy journey.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Adewunmi Gbolahan Ogunsanya, described the pilgrimage as a period of spiritual rejuvenation.

He explained that the orientation was designed to educate pilgrims on their responsibilities and guide them ahead of the exercise.

Ogunsanya urged participants to conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of Lagos State and Nigeria.

He stressed that unity, discipline, and cooperation among pilgrims were vital for a successful pilgrimage.

Also speaking, the Board Secretary, Dr Okudero Gbolabo Omoniyi, emphasised the spiritual essence of the journey.

He cautioned pilgrims to remain intentional and avoid distractions throughout the pilgrimage.

Okudero advised participants to dress modestly, eat moderately, and remain with their designated groups.

He also urged them to obey the laws of the host countries and adhere strictly to the tour guides’ instructions.

According to him, good conduct and constant prayer should remain top priorities during the pilgrimage.

Operational staff, including clerical, media, medical, and administrative teams, were also briefed on their duties.

They were taken through their roles to ensure smooth coordination and welfare management during the exercise.

Okudero commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his continued support of the pilgrimage programme.

He also praised the Lagos State Government for providing a structured and supportive framework for pilgrims.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a hitch-free pilgrimage experience.

The first batch of intending pilgrims is scheduled to depart on January 31, 2026.

The second batch will depart in February 2026.
