The Lagos State Health Service Commission has organised a two-day non-residential retreat for senior pharmacists across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the Y2025 retreat was held at The Zone on the Gbagada–Oworonshoki Expressway, Gbagada.
The programme brought together 70 pharmacists on Grade Level 15 and above from the state’s 29 General Hospitals and the Health Service Commission.
The retreat was themed “Breaking Silos: Practical Pathways to Integrated Healthcare Delivery.”

Experts delivered presentations on collaboration, leadership, and integrated healthcare service delivery.
Key sessions focused on building synergy among healthcare leaders and strengthening inter-agency collaboration.
Other topics addressed the pharmacist’s role in continuity of care from patient admission to discharge.

Participants also explored practical ways to translate health policies into effective operational outcomes.
The event featured interactive activities, including a family discussion panel session.
Games, dance activities, and award presentations were held to encourage participation and team bonding.

A retreat communiqué and action plans were also developed to guide future implementation.
Speaking at the retreat, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Dr Cecilia Abimbola Mabogunje, stressed the importance of teamwork in healthcare delivery.
She acknowledged the critical role pharmacists play in the medical supply chain and patient outcomes.
Dr Mabogunje urged participants to move away from siloed practices and embrace collaboration.

She emphasised that teamwork is essential to improving patient experience and service efficiency.
The retreat was attended by a former Permanent Secretary of HSC, Dr Jemilade Longe.
Other dignitaries present included the Director of Medical Services, Dr Olawale Adegbite.

Also in attendance was the Director of Finance and Accounts, Mrs Abosede Olushi.
The Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Pharm. Modupe Bakare anchored the programme.

Participants commended the Health Service Commission and the Lagos State Government for the initiative.
They described the retreat as timely, impactful, and beneficial to professional development.
