The Lagos State Education District VI has intensified efforts to curb rising cases of indiscipline in public schools by seeking stronger collaboration with traditional and community institutions in Isolo.

Eko Hot News reports that the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Mrs Mojisola Christiana Yusuff, led her management team on a courtesy visit to the Palace of the Osolo of Isolo, His Royal Majesty, Oba Isa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi Shekoni, to strengthen community partnership in addressing school-related challenges.

During the engagement, Mrs Yusuff raised concerns over increasing incidents of student indiscipline, particularly within the Okota school cluster, noting that the trend poses a threat to academic standards, safety, and school infrastructure.

She explained that while the government continues to provide a conducive and secure learning environment, restoring discipline requires the collective involvement of parents, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders.

According to her, discipline in schools is a shared responsibility that extends beyond the classroom, stressing that community ownership is vital to sustaining order and protecting public educational assets.

“We are calling on the community to join hands with us in bringing sanity back to our schools. A safe and productive learning environment can only be achieved when everyone plays their role,” she said.

In his response, Oba Faronbi Shekoni reaffirmed the Palace’s commitment to education and community development, describing education as a critical pillar for societal growth and stability.

The monarch acknowledged the existing collaboration between the Isolo community and Education District VI and pledged to mobilise parents, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to address issues of indiscipline and school security.

Oba Faronbi also expressed concern over the encroachment on school lands within the Okota area, describing it as a serious challenge that requires urgent attention.

He assured the education authorities of continuous support and promised to facilitate regular communication between the Palace and the Education District to ensure prompt resolution of emerging issues.
