LSFRS Honours Retirees, Celebrates Service at 2026 Engagement

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has held its 2026 Annual Staff Engagement and Retirement Ceremony, celebrating dedication, professionalism, and years of selfless service to Lagos State.

Eko Hot News reports that the ceremony took place at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, bringing together serving officers, retirees, senior government officials, and key stakeholders from across the Lagos State Civil Service.

Speaking at the event, the Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr Gbenga Oyerinde, described the annual engagement as a vital platform for reviewing past performance and re-strategising for improved service delivery in the new year.

He commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for sustained support to the Service, citing the provision of modern firefighting equipment, construction of new fire stations, and installation of industrial boreholes to strengthen emergency response across the state.

Oyerinde urged officers to remain committed to duty while also prioritising their health and overall well-being.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs Boladele Dapo-Thomas, praised firefighters for their courage and dedication, describing them as gallant officers who risk their lives to save others and protect property and the environment.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr Tunde Ogundeko, mni, applauded the Service’s rapid emergency response and urged officers to maintain professionalism at all times.

The Controller-General of LSFRS highlighted provisions of the newly enacted LSFRS Law, noting its role in strengthening operations and service delivery.

Highlights included capacity-building lectures, decoration of ranks, retirement recognition for Squad 13 officers, presentation of awards, and the release of the Service’s annual activity report.
