The Lagos State Government, through the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), has reiterated its firm commitment to protecting consumers against substandard, fake and unsafe products, as well as unsatisfactory services across the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the General Manager of LASCOPA, Mr Afolabi Solebo Esq., gave the assurance on Wednesday while speaking on The Conversation programme on Lagos State Television.

Solebo warned that the circulation of substandard goods poses serious threats to public health, safety and the economy, stressing that such practices will not be tolerated in Lagos State.

He explained that consumer protection remains a core statutory mandate of the agency, noting that LASCOPA will continue to intensify market surveillance, enforcement activities and collaboration with relevant regulatory bodies.

According to him, the renewed drive is aimed at ensuring that only certified, safe and quality products are available to consumers across the state.

The LASCOPA boss added that manufacturers, distributors and traders found dealing in fake or substandard products would face appropriate sanctions in line with existing consumer protection laws and regulations.

He urged residents to be vigilant and proactive by reporting cases of fake products, unfair trade practices and other consumer rights violations through the agency’s official complaint channels.

Solebo encouraged consumers to utilise LASCOPA’s online platforms or visit any of the agency’s offices nearest to them to lodge complaints.
