Lagos State, hosted the maiden Federal Parastatals Summit at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, bringing together key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and improve public service delivery.
Eko Hot News reports that The summit, organised by the Lagos State Parastatals Monitoring Office (PMO), was themed “Enhancing Efficiency, Accountability and Strategic Governance across Lagos State and Federal Parastatals.” It convened heads of parastatals, chief executive officers, and senior officials from state and federal agencies operating in Lagos.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the summit as critical to Lagos and Nigeria’s broader governance aspirations. He noted that effective collaboration among institutions remains central to public confidence and development.
The Governor reaffirmed Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s economic heartbeat, stressing that governance outcomes in the state depend on how transparently and efficiently institutions align and deliver on their mandates.
He added that effective governance must now be intentionally achieved through coordination, shared purpose, and strategic partnerships across agencies.
In his welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Parastatals Monitoring, Hon. Ibrahim Babajide Obanikoro, said the summit was timely, noting that weak coordination among parastatals has often led to duplication and inefficiencies.
He explained that the initiative was designed to bridge institutional gaps and promote structured engagement in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda of the Lagos State Government.
The Head of Service of Lagos State, Mr. Bode Agoro, described the summit as historic, stressing that parastatals are key drivers of service delivery and public trust.
In his vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary, PMO, Dr. Olugbemiga Aina, expressed optimism that resolutions reached would translate into measurable outcomes and sustained collaboration.
The summit ended with a collective commitment to move from dialogue to implementation for improved governance and service delivery.
