The Lagos State Government has flagged off an eight-day free healthcare outreach sponsored by Chief Razak Akanni Okoya, Chairman of Eleganza Group of Companies, as part of activities marking his 86th birthday.

Eko Hot News reports that the outreach was officially launched by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Oluwakemi Ogunyemi, and is expected to serve hundreds of residents daily.

The programme is being implemented with strong technical coordination and service delivery support from Lagos State Health District III to ensure compliance with approved clinical standards.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Dr. Ogunyemi described the initiative as a model of how philanthropy can be strategically aligned with government health programmes to deliver measurable outcomes.

She reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to sustaining impactful public–private partnerships that improve access to quality healthcare and promote early disease detection.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, commended Chief Okoya for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that complements government healthcare efforts.

Dr. Adeleke noted that the outreach strengthens access to preventive and primary healthcare services across communities.

She explained that services provided include blood pressure and blood sugar checks, Hepatitis B testing, urinalysis, and consultations with medical doctors.

Additional services include HIV testing and counselling in collaboration with the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency, dental care, eye screening with free corrective glasses, and breast and cervical cancer screening.

General medical consultations, health education, and referrals to government health facilities are also part of the outreach.

Dr. Adeleke further disclosed that beneficiaries of the programme would receive ₦10,000 cash support each.

She applauded the industrialist for the gesture, noting that it reflects compassion, dignity, and a commitment to holistic community wellbeing.

The outreach reinforces Lagos State’s people-centred healthcare agenda and underscores the impact of private sector support in public health delivery.
