The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the sale of application forms for intending pilgrims preparing for the 2027/1448 A.H. Hajj and Ramadan Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Eko Hot News reports that the Board Secretary, Mr. Abdul-Hakeem Ajomagberin, announced the commencement of registration and urged intending pilgrims to complete the process early in line with the timetable released by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and the Saudi Arabian authorities.

Ajomagberin said early registration will enable the Board to complete all administrative and financial requirements ahead of the pilgrimage season.

According to him, the Hajj application form is available for ₦20,000, while the Ramadan Umrah application form costs ₦10,000.

He explained that payment for both forms should be made at the Accounts Department of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

For the 2027 Hajj exercise, intending pilgrims are required to make an initial deposit of ₦7 million through a bank draft issued by any commercial bank in favour of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.

Ajomagberin noted that the final Hajj fare will be determined after the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria announces the approved cost for the 2027 pilgrimage.

He assured intending pilgrims that any adjustment to the final fare, whether an increase or reduction, will be communicated immediately after NAHCON’s official announcement.

The Board Secretary disclosed that the deadline for payment of the initial Hajj deposit is September 2026, urging applicants to complete payment well before the closing date.

For those intending to perform the Ramadan Umrah, he said an initial deposit of ₦5.7 million is also required through a bank draft.

He advised all applicants to obtain official receipts for every payment made to ensure proper documentation and accountability throughout the registration process.

Ajomagberin explained that the early registration exercise aligns with NAHCON’s directive requiring all state pilgrims’ boards to conclude registration and financial commitments ahead of the pilgrimage season.

According to him, timely registration will support visa processing, accommodation reservations, flight arrangements and other logistics with the Saudi authorities.

He added that the Board has designed the Hajj and Ramadan Umrah packages to provide both spiritual fulfilment and quality welfare services for Lagos pilgrims.

The package includes accommodation located within walking distance of the Haram, reliable local transportation, daily breakfast and dinner, medical support and spiritual counselling.

Pilgrims will also participate in organised Ziyarah visits to important historical and religious sites in Makkah and Madinah.

In a related development, the Board announced that enrollment in the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme has become mandatory for all intending pilgrims.

Ajomagberin explained that the initiative is aimed at ensuring pilgrims have access to quality healthcare before departure, during their stay in Saudi Arabia and after returning to Nigeria.

He disclosed that registration for the health insurance scheme costs ₦15,000 for individuals and ₦55,000 for families.

The Board Secretary reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to transparency, accountability and efficient service delivery, noting that these values have consistently distinguished Lagos during Hajj operations.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat and NAHCON for their continued support toward improving pilgrimage administration in Lagos State.

Ajomagberin expressed confidence that the 2027/1448 A.H. Hajj and Ramadan Umrah exercises would rank among the most successful, with proper planning, early registration and effective coordination.

The Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board encouraged intending pilgrims to begin the registration process promptly to avoid last-minute delays and ensure adequate preparation for a smooth and fulfilling spiritual journey.
