The Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) has strengthened its drive to promote creativity and innovation across the state public service through a knowledge-sharing session for Creativity and Innovation Ambassadors.
Eko Hot News reports that the one-day engagement was held at the STO Resource Centre in Alausa as part of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to institutionalising innovation in public service.
The programme was organised under the leadership of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, in collaboration with the Creativity and Innovation Department.
Participants included newly inducted and returning Creativity and Innovation Ambassadors from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Local Governments, Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), Education Districts, and Health Districts.
The session provided a platform for participants to exchange ideas, share experiences, and discuss best practices that can improve public service delivery.
According to the organisers, the programme also strengthened collaboration among ambassadors while aligning their activities with OTCI’s vision of building a more innovative public service.
Officials reaffirmed that the ambassadors play an important role in promoting creative thinking and driving continuous improvement within their various institutions.
A major highlight of the programme was an Innovation and Design Thinking Crash Course designed to equip participants with practical problem-solving skills.
The training introduced a human-centred approach to identifying challenges, developing creative solutions, and implementing meaningful improvements across government institutions.
Participants also received detailed guidance on the governance structure of the Creativity and Innovation Initiative within the Lagos State Public Service.
The session outlined the responsibilities of Accounting Officers, Creativity and Innovation Ambassadors, and Creativity and Innovation Committees in supporting innovation projects.
Discussions also focused on reporting procedures, monitoring and evaluation systems, and strategies for sustaining innovation initiatives across government agencies.
Mrs. Anjous-Ademuyiwa reiterated the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in driving meaningful transformation within the public sector.
She noted that innovation becomes more effective when public servants are empowered with the right skills, supported by strong leadership, and encouraged to work together.
The Permanent Secretary added that the Lagos State Government remains committed to building an agile, responsive, and forward-looking public service capable of meeting the needs of residents.
Participants commended the initiative for providing practical insights and strengthening networks among innovation champions across the state’s institutions.
The programme forms part of OTCI’s broader strategy to promote excellence, encourage continuous learning, and improve service delivery through innovation and collaboration.
By empowering Creativity and Innovation Ambassadors with new knowledge and practical tools, the Lagos State Government continues to reinforce its commitment to building a modern public service that embraces creativity, efficiency, and sustainable development.
