Lagos Promotes Innovation in Public Service

The Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) has reaffirmed its commitment to building a more innovative and responsive public service through its Annual Growth Mindset Development Programme.

Eko Hot News reports that the four-day programme, held to commemorate World Creativity and Innovation Day, was themed “Step Out and Innovate” and brought together public servants from across the state.

The initiative was led by the Permanent Secretary of OTCI, Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, who emphasized the importance of embracing change and innovation in driving sustainable transformation within the public service.

Participants were drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Local Governments, Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), Education Districts, and Health Districts across Lagos State.

The programme focused on equipping public servants with practical skills to strengthen creativity, resilience, and continuous improvement in service delivery.

According to the organisers, developing a growth mindset is only effective when it inspires action and encourages innovative solutions to everyday challenges.

Participants explored strategies for embracing change, questioning conventional approaches, and applying creative thinking to improve government operations.

Interactive learning sessions and collaborative discussions enabled attendees to exchange ideas, develop problem-solving skills, and identify practical solutions for their workplaces.

The programme also encouraged participants to step beyond their comfort zones and embrace new ways of delivering value to residents.

Mrs. Anjous-Ademuyiwa noted that innovation extends beyond generating ideas and requires the confidence and commitment to turn those ideas into measurable results.

She explained that empowering public servants with the right mindset and capabilities remains essential to building a more agile and future-ready public service.

The Permanent Secretary added that continuous learning and innovation are key to improving efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness across government institutions.

Participants were encouraged to become ambassadors of innovation by promoting positive change and continuous improvement within their respective organisations.

Officials said the programme aligns with the Lagos State Government’s broader vision of strengthening institutional capacity through knowledge sharing, leadership development, and modern workplace practices.

The initiative also supports ongoing reforms aimed at improving governance, increasing productivity, and delivering better services to residents across the state.

Stakeholders commended the programme for creating opportunities for collaboration and equipping public servants with practical tools to address emerging challenges.

The Annual Growth Mindset Development Programme continues to serve as a platform for nurturing innovative thinking and preparing government employees to respond effectively to the evolving needs of Lagos State.

Through sustained investment in capacity building, OTCI reaffirmed its commitment to developing a workforce that is creative, adaptable, and committed to excellence in public service delivery.

The agency expressed confidence that participants will apply the knowledge gained to improve operational efficiency, strengthen teamwork, and contribute to the continued transformation of the Lagos State Public Service.
