The Lagos State Government has announced a scheduled traffic diversion following the temporary closure of Iddo Bridge in Ijora, Apapa Local Government Area for ongoing reconstruction works.

Eko Hot News reports that the closure will enable the Federal Ministry of Works to install heavy steel bridge beams as part of the rehabilitation project aimed at improving structural safety and traffic flow.

The operation is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and Sunday, 21st June 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Authorities confirmed that the entire section of the bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the specified periods.

The closure is necessary to ensure the safe installation of steel beams as part of the ongoing reconstruction efforts.

Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys ahead and make use of alternative routes provided by traffic authorities.

Commuters traveling from Oyingbo and Yaba to Ijora Olopa, Apapa, and Costain are to use Funsho Williams Avenue as an alternative route.

Those moving from Marina towards Ijora Olopa, Apapa, and Costain are advised to descend the ramp to Iddo-Onigbe and connect Oyingbo via Murtala Muhammed Way.

Motorists heading from Ijora Olopa and Apapa towards Carter Bridge and Marina are expected to use Eko Bridge through Apapa Road and Murtala Muhammed Way via Iddo-Onigbe.

Traffic officials have urged road users to comply with diversion instructions to reduce congestion during the maintenance period.

The Lagos State Government stated that the temporary closure is part of a coordinated traffic management plan supporting infrastructure rehabilitation works.
