The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting consumer rights and promoting fair trade practices across Lagos State during a stakeholder engagement meeting on Lagos Island.
Eko Hot News reports that the General Manager of LASCOPA, Afolabi Solebo, was represented at the event by the Head of the LASCOPA Annex Office, Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Azeezat Apata.
The engagement meeting was organised by Lagos Island Connect and held at Lafiaji Community Hall.
Speaking during the programme, the founder of Lagos Island Connect, Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, encouraged residents to engage actively with their local government leaders.
She noted that stronger community participation can promote transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance at the grassroots level.
Representing LASCOPA, Mrs. Apata stressed the importance of stakeholder engagement and public awareness in strengthening consumer protection across the state.
She encouraged residents to report unfair trade practices and make use of the agency’s complaint resolution channels whenever necessary.

According to her, consumer education remains essential for protecting residents against misleading business practices and improving market transparency.
LASCOPA also reaffirmed its dedication to ensuring fairness in commercial activities and improving consumer confidence across Lagos.
The meeting attracted participation from stakeholders, community leaders, civil society groups, and representatives of government agencies.
Also present at the event was the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila.
Representatives from organisations including Enough is Enough Nigeria, Africa Leadership Group, and the Danish Consulate also attended the forum.
The Netherlands Embassy and other development stakeholders were equally represented during the engagement session.
