The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy has hosted the Lagos Leadership Summit 2026, bringing together government officials and stakeholders to discuss sustainable governance and long-term institutional development in Lagos State.
Eko Hot News reports that the summit, themed “Building Systems That Outlive Us,” was held at Konga Place and featured participation from key government representatives and policy leaders across the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, was among top officials present at the event. He joined other stakeholders in discussions focused on strengthening governance frameworks and building resilient systems that endure beyond individual administrations.
Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu was represented at the summit by the Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin. The representation reflected the administration’s continued support for leadership development and institutional reforms in Lagos.
Also in attendance were the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Miranda, the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, and the Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde. Other dignitaries included commissioners, permanent secretaries, EXCO members, and invited guest speakers.
The summit focused on how institutions, policies, and leadership practices can be intentionally structured to ensure continuity, resilience, and long-term impact. Speakers examined strategies for strengthening governance systems in line with Nigeria’s evolving socio-economic environment.
Participants highlighted the importance of designing policies that remain effective beyond political cycles. They stressed that sustainable development requires strong institutions that support consistency in governance and service delivery.
The event also provided a platform for exchanging ideas on leadership innovation and public sector transformation. Stakeholders emphasised collaboration as a key factor in building systems that support inclusive growth and development.
Mr. Aregbe noted that tourism remains a strategic component of the state’s broader development agenda. He highlighted its potential as a driver of youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and creative industry growth.
According to him, positioning Lagos as a leading creative hub in Africa requires sustained investment in human capital and innovative policies. He added that tourism and culture can serve as tools for economic diversification and global engagement.
The summit further reinforced the Lagos State Government’s commitment to developing future leaders through structured programmes and mentorship. Participants agreed that leadership capacity building is essential to sustaining institutional progress.
Stakeholders also underscored the need for governance systems that adapt to changing realities while maintaining a clear long-term vision. They noted that resilience and flexibility are critical in addressing emerging challenges.
The discussions aligned with the THEMES Plus Agenda of the current administration, which prioritises economic growth, infrastructure, and human capital development. Participants commended ongoing efforts to integrate these priorities into policy frameworks.
