The World Bank delegation has visited the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to strengthen discussions on improving emergency preparedness and response systems across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the strategic working visit began at the Lagos State Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations where the Permanent Secretary, Sesan Ogundeko, hosted the delegation before they proceeded to the Service Headquarters in Alausa for further engagements.
The three-member delegation was led by Francis Samson Nooka and was received by the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, who welcomed the visitors and coordinated activities during the visit.
During the engagement, the delegation toured key operational facilities within the Service Headquarters located in Alausa. The visit formed part of ongoing discussions aimed at supporting improved emergency management systems in Lagos State.
The delegation was also taken to the Technical Training Department at the Ikeja Fire Station where officials of the Service provided detailed briefings on ongoing capacity-building programmes designed to strengthen the professional development of fire service personnel.

The visit further included a stop at the state’s Command and Control Centre where the delegation received an overview of the communication and coordination framework used to manage emergency response operations across Lagos.
Members of the World Bank team commended the efforts of the Lagos State Government in enhancing fire safety infrastructure and improving response mechanisms for emergencies across the state.
They noted that the progress achieved by the fire service reflects the state government’s commitment to strengthening public safety systems and ensuring efficient emergency services for residents.
The delegation also observed that additional improvements at the Service’s Training School would help position the facility at a higher global standard while supporting more advanced training for fire and rescue personnel.

According to the visitors, stronger collaboration between the World Bank and Lagos authorities could further support initiatives aimed at modernising emergency management structures and expanding training opportunities for fire service officers.
The visit forms part of broader efforts to build partnerships that will support improved disaster preparedness and sustainable public safety systems in Lagos State.
Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reaffirmed their commitment to continuous improvement in service delivery through strategic partnerships, training and infrastructure development.

They expressed appreciation for the interest shown by the World Bank delegation and emphasised the importance of international collaboration in strengthening emergency response capabilities in the state.
The engagement concluded with both parties highlighting the importance of sustained dialogue and technical cooperation to enhance fire safety standards and emergency management systems in Lagos.
