The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has announced a temporary disruption of water supply in several parts of Lagos to enable the completion of critical repair and replacement works at the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant.
Eko Hot News reports that the affected areas include Akiode, Ikeja, Magodo, Oregun, Ketu, Ojota, Maryland, Aromire, Ogudu, Gbagada, Shomolu, Ojuelegba, Oyingbo, Ijora Olopa, Agege, and parts of Lagos Island.
According to a statement signed by the Managing Director of LWC, Engr. Temitope Mukhtaar, the disruption is necessary to address a leakage on the ND1600mm Adiyan raw water pipeline at the Akute Intake Station.
Mukhtaar explained that the persistent leakage has negatively impacted the ongoing construction of the Adiyan Phase II project by saturating the surrounding soil and weakening ground stability.
He noted that the situation poses safety risks to heavy construction equipment, including cranes and excavators, currently operating at the site.
As part of safety measures, the Adiyan I Water Treatment Plant will be temporarily shut down pending the completion of the repair and replacement works.

The shutdown, according to the Corporation, is required to ensure the safe and effective execution of the Adiyan II intake construction.
LWC emphasised that the repair works are critical to safeguarding long-term water infrastructure and improving water supply capacity for Lagos residents.
The Corporation assured customers that repair activities are being intensified to minimise the duration of the disruption.
Mukhtaar stated that all technical teams are working around the clock to ensure the timely completion of the repairs.
He added that the water supply will be restored as soon as the works are concluded.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to make adequate water storage arrangements during the repair period.
LWC also appealed for public understanding, stressing that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to guarantee safer and more reliable water supply services.
The Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to improving water infrastructure across Lagos State.
