The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has convened a strategic meeting with Heads of Women Affairs Departments across all Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the meeting was held at the Ministry’s Conference Room, Secretariat, Alausa, to coordinate preparations for the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration.

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Cecilia Dada, led the session.

She stated that the gathering was aimed at ensuring proper planning and seamless execution of the upcoming event scheduled for March 2026.

Dada emphasised the importance of collaboration and punctuality among all stakeholders.

She urged representatives to work closely with their respective council chairpersons.

According to her, logistics such as mobilisation, designated colours, banner specifications and other arrangements must be properly handled.

The Commissioner disclosed that women from the 20 Local Government Councils and 30 LCDAs are expected to participate.

She directed all Heads of Department to submit accurate participation figures.

Dada explained that verified numbers would aid effective planning and crowd management.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, commended the dedication of the Women Affairs representatives.

She advised strict adherence to the Commissioner’s directives.

Onigbanjo stressed the need for compliance with approved procedures and guidelines.

She also encouraged grassroots sensitisation on routine child immunisation.

The Permanent Secretary urged representatives to promote enrollment in the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) health insurance scheme.

According to her, increased awareness will improve the well-being of women and children statewide.

Participants pledged renewed commitment to delivering a successful celebration.
