The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has signed the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill, tagged the Budget of Shared Prosperity, into law at Lagos House, Ikeja.

Eko Hot News reports that the ₦4.444 trillion budget was earlier passed by the Lagos State House of Assembly and now become operational, providing legal backing for full-scale implementation across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the 2026 budget as a people-focused financial plan aimed at strengthening governance structures while keeping Lagos competitive in a challenging economic environment.

He noted that the budget is built on inclusion, ensuring that residents across all communities and sectors feel the impact of government spending through visible and practical interventions.

According to the Governor, priority areas include education, healthcare, security, and infrastructure renewal, with sustained investments targeted at improving the quality of life statewide.

Sanwo-Olu referenced recent challenges such as the Balogun Market fire and ongoing interventions along the Ebute Metta coastline, stressing that these incidents underscore the need for stronger infrastructure and responsive public services.

He explained that the 2026 budget positions the state to respond more effectively to emergencies while laying a solid foundation for long-term growth and resilience.
