Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has received the 46th Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral A. A. Mustapha, on a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Ikeja.

Eko Hot News reports that the visit focused on strengthening collaboration between the Lagos State Government and the Nigerian Navy, particularly in safeguarding the state’s waterways and enhancing overall security.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the Nigerian Navy for its sustained efforts in securing Lagos waterways, noting that maritime safety remains critical to commerce, transportation, and economic growth in the state.

He emphasised that Lagos, as Nigeria’s economic hub with extensive coastal and inland waterways, relies heavily on the Navy’s professionalism to curb criminal activities and ensure safe maritime operations.

The governor reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with the Nigerian Navy, stressing that inter-agency cooperation is essential for maintaining peace, safety, and stability across Lagos and its surrounding regions.

According to him, the partnership between Lagos State and the Navy has continued to yield positive results in protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure linked to the blue economy.

Rear Admiral Mustapha, on his part, expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for its consistent support and cooperation with the Western Naval Command.
