Sanwo-Olu Commissions Modern Popo Aguda Community Centre in Lagos

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has officially commissioned the Paulinus Olusegun Carrena Popo Aguda Community Centre, a newly completed three-storey facility on Bamgbose Street, Lagos Island.

Eko Hot News reports that the state-of-the-art community centre is named after Pa Paulinus Olusegun Carrena, a respected Nigerian educator and administrator, and father of the First Lady. The facility is designed to serve as a hub for community engagement and social development.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, while addressing attendees, expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the project. He called on residents to embrace unity and selflessness, noting that such values are key to sustaining community growth and harmony.

The First Lady, Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, described the project as a meaningful way of giving back to the community.

She dedicated the centre to the people of Popo Aguda and appreciated the Governor for his continued support in bringing the vision to life.

Also speaking at the event, Oluyinka Olumide, Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, described the commissioning as a milestone achievement.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing living standards across the state.

The General Manager of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permits Authority, Tpl. Kehinde Osinaike, presented the official Planning Permit Approval to the First Lady.

He commended her for complying fully with regulatory procedures, setting a positive example for residents and developers.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Razak Abiodun expressed appreciation to both the Governor and the First Lady. He assured that the facility would be properly maintained and effectively utilized for communal benefit.

The commissioning ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including Pedro Lawal, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Babajide Damazio, Apex Leader of APC in Lagos State; and Abisogun Leigh, former Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University.

Guests were also treated to lively cultural performances, including an entertaining display by Boi & Brazilian Campus Garretta, adding color and excitement to the occasion.

The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its dedication to community-focused projects. The Popo Aguda Community Centre stands as a symbol of inclusive development and a commitment to improving the well-being of residents.
