The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated mothers who delivered Christmas Day babies at the General Hospital, Ijede, while also extending goodwill to in-patients at the facility.

Eko Hot News reports that the Governor was represented by the Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Health Service Commission (HSC), Pharm. Bakare Modupe, who presented gift items to the newborns and patients as part of the Yuletide celebration.

According to Pharm. Bakare, the gesture reflects the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to maternal, newborn, and child welfare, especially during festive periods when compassion and care are most needed.

She noted that the administration remains focused on ensuring quality healthcare delivery across public health facilities in the state, with special attention to mothers and children.

While addressing members of staff, Pharm. Bakare commended the hospital’s management and workforce for maintaining a clean, orderly, and well-structured environment within the wards.

She described the condition of the facility as a clear indication of effective leadership and a dedicated healthcare team committed to excellence in service delivery.

The Director encouraged staff to sustain the standards observed and to embrace the spirit of giving, stressing that Christmas is a season of love, kindness, and putting smiles on people’s faces.

Details of the Christmas deliveries revealed that the first baby, Okiki Omobolanle, a male, was delivered via Caesarean Section at exactly 12:45am, weighing 2.8kg.

Another male baby, Akingbile Damilola, was also delivered through Caesarean Section at 2:30am, weighing 4kg.

A third Christmas baby, Sanni Nusirat’s son, was delivered through Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery (SVD) at about 3:00am, weighing 3kg.

The mothers and their families expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Government for the support, describing the visit and gifts as a memorable Christmas blessing.

The event further reinforced the Sanwo-Olu administration’s focus on compassionate governance and people-centred healthcare delivery across Lagos State.
