The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) paid a courtesy visit to the White Cap Chiefs of Lagos, following their recent appointment and installation.

Eko Hot News reports that the visit was led by the Director-General of LASRAB, Mr Amodu Razaak, as a mark of respect and recognition of the chiefs’ elevation into the Council of White Cap Chiefs of Lagos.

The delegation paid homage to the traditional leaders, acknowledging their historic roles and reaffirming LASRAB’s recognition of traditional institutions as vital custodians of Lagos’ cultural identity.

According to LASRAB, the visit also reflects the Bureau’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with indigenous authorities responsible for preserving customs, heritage, and traditional governance in Lagos State.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Razaak described the White Cap Chiefs as prominent leaders dedicated to upholding the traditions of Lagos and ensuring continuity of its indigenous values.

He noted that their appointment symbolises noble lineage, loyalty to the land, and commitment to the preservation of truth and tradition within the Lagos cultural system.

The White Cap Chieftaincy Institution was described as a cornerstone of Lagos history, with each title carrying responsibilities essential to sustaining the state’s indigenous heritage.

Chiefs recognised during the visit include the Eletu Odibo of Lagos, Chief Ismail Nosiru Ayeni; the Ogboni Iduntafa of Lagos, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, and the Olorogun Adodo of Lagos, Chief Adebola Alabi Dosunmu.

Others are the Onimole of Lagos, Chief Razaq Abolaji Onimole; the Onisemo of Lagos, Chief Bolaji Oluwa; and the Bajulu of Lagos, Chief Yusuf Jinadu.

LASRAB reiterated its mandate to document, preserve, and safeguard Lagos’ historical records and cultural heritage in partnership with traditional institutions.

The Bureau assured the White Cap Chiefs of continued engagement aimed at ensuring that Lagos’ indigenous history and traditions are preserved for future generations.
