LASRAB Trains Records Officers

 The Lagos State Records and Archives Bureau (LASRAB) has commenced a two-day capacity-building workshop for archivists and Heads of Records Units across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the Lagos State Public Service.

Eko Hot News reports that the workshop, themed “Strengthening Records Surveys and Information Governance for Effective Public Service Delivery,” began on June 23 and concludes on June 24, 2026, at LASRAB House in Magodo, Lagos.

The training is designed to strengthen the skills of records management professionals and improve information governance across government institutions. It also seeks to promote efficient record-keeping practices that support effective public service delivery.

Speaking at the opening session, the Director-General of LASRAB, Mr. Amodu Razaak, praised participants for their dedication and commitment in their respective MDAs.

Razaak reaffirmed the Bureau’s commitment to continuous professional development for records officers. He noted that regular training remains essential to keeping officers updated with evolving trends in records and archives management.

According to him, records management professionals play a critical role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and efficiency within the public service.

He urged participants to continue projecting the positive image of LASRAB while upholding the core values of the Lagos State Public Service.

The Director-General stressed that effective records management is a key component of good governance. He added that accurate and well-preserved records help government institutions make informed decisions and improve service delivery.

Razaak encouraged attendees to actively participate in the workshop through discussions, practical sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.

The workshop featured presentations from experienced professionals in records and archives management.

Among the facilitators was Dr. Oseni Kolawole, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PWK Consultancy Services.

Also delivering presentations was Mr. Austin Otigbu, an archivist with the National Archives in Ibadan.

Dr. Ifeyinwa Okafor, Head of Archives at Ikoyi Club, also facilitated sessions during the training programme.

The resource persons highlighted the importance of records and archives in promoting institutional memory and preserving government information.

They explained that proper records management supports accountability and enhances transparency in public administration.

The facilitators also emphasized the growing importance of digital technology in records and archives management.

Participants were encouraged to adopt digital tools and modern information management systems to improve efficiency and accessibility.

The experts noted that embracing technology would help preserve valuable government records for future generations while reducing the challenges associated with manual record-keeping.
