The Lagos State Government has taken another step to strengthen public sector efficiency with the launch of a three-day capacity-building workshop on work planning and strategic project execution.
Eko Hot News reports that the programme is being organised by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB) in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Project Managers of Nigeria (CIPMN) and is being held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja.
The workshop is designed to enhance institutional competence in effective work planning, results-driven execution, and strategic project implementation across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Delivering the keynote address, the Permanent Secretary, MEPB, Mrs Olayinka Ojo, represented by the Director of Budget, Mr Oluwafemi Orojimi Abiodun, described work planning as the backbone of effective governance and sustainable development.
She stressed that strategic impact goes beyond project completion, noting that true success is measured by improved service delivery, economic growth, social inclusion, and better quality of life for citizens.
Earlier, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr Foaud Oyede, said the workshop would expose participants to practical tools for effective planning, disciplined execution, and delivery of measurable outcomes.

He noted that the training would help align work plans with deliverables, reduce abandoned projects, and ensure timely execution across MDAs.
Speaking on behalf of CIPMN, Mr Oyetunji Adekunle Bashir described the workshop as a robust programme aimed at improving staff performance and deepening understanding of strategic planning in line with the Lagos State Development Plan.

He added that participants would gain skills to prioritise tasks, manage projects efficiently, and deliver value-driven outcomes.
Participants commended the Lagos State Government for the initiative, describing it as timely and relevant to the State’s ongoing reforms in governance and economic management.

They noted that the training would strengthen coordination across agencies, reduce silo operations, and improve accountability in public service delivery.
The workshop brings together planners, project managers, and public sector professionals to share best practices aligned with global project management standards.
