The Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment has successfully mediated a peaceful resolution between feuding members of the NNPC Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
EKO HOT NEWS reports that the intervention, led by the Permanent Secretary, Babatunde Onigbanjo, took place during a mediation session held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the ministry.
The extensive meeting brought together key stakeholders, who agreed to put aside their differences in the interest of unity and progress. The resolution was formalised with the signing of a joint communique by all parties involved.
The ministry leveraged its regulatory oversight of cooperative societies in Lagos State to ensure a peaceful settlement, reinforcing the state government’s commitment to stability within economic and cooperative associations, including those linked to federal institutions.
Participants at the meeting, captured in photographs, included ministry officials and cooperative members dressed in both formal and traditional attire, reflecting a collaborative and inclusive engagement process.
The resolution aligns with the objectives of the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP 2052), as well as key targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in promoting economic growth, poverty reduction, and strong institutions.
This development is expected to ensure uninterrupted operations and sustained benefits for members of the cooperative society, which primarily serves employees of the national oil corporation.
