Lagos State Health District V has strengthened its commitment to environmental safety and healthcare quality through a specialized training programme on healthcare waste management for sanitarians across Primary Health Care Centres.

The training, themed “Healthcare Waste Management at Primary Health Care Centres in District V,” brought together environmental health professionals to enhance their technical knowledge and operational efficiency.
Officials emphasized the importance of proper waste classification, segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal in maintaining safe and clean healthcare environments.
Facilitator Sanitarian Ahoton Thona Jameson delivered detailed lectures on best practices in healthcare waste management and the responsibilities of environmental health officers.

The Permanent Secretary of Health District V, Dr. Oladapo Asiyanbi, described healthcare waste management as essential to infection prevention and environmental sustainability.

He further directed improvements along the Iyana-Iba axis within three months as part of performance monitoring measures.
