The Lagos State Government has disbursed ₦5 million in financial assistance to seven families with multiple births, as part of efforts to promote social inclusion and ease economic pressure on vulnerable households across the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the presentation was carried out by the Ministry of Youth and Social Development at the Alausa Secretariat, in line with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s Social Inclusion Policy, which seeks to ensure that no resident is excluded from the benefits of good governance.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, said the support was designed to help beneficiary families meet the demands of childcare and also celebrate the festive season with relief and dignity.
Ogunlende noted that while the financial support may not cover all expenses involved in raising multiple children, it reflects the government’s concern for families facing unique challenges.
He described children as valuable assets who must be nurtured and given a strong foundation to become responsible adults in the future.
According to him, meaningful investment in children today determines the quality of leadership and productivity the state will enjoy tomorrow.
He stressed that the government remains committed to policies that support families, children, and social welfare development.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, urged parents to appreciate God for the blessing of multiple births and to prioritise the care, health, and wellbeing of the children.
She explained that the Social Inclusion Policy of Governor Sanwo-Olu applies to all residents regardless of tribe or religion, adding that the financial support programme is transparent, inclusive, and implemented annually.
She clarified that beneficiaries do not need personal connections, as eligibility is based solely on residency and birth within The Lagos State Government.
Mrs. Oke-Osanyintolu added that the initiative aligns with the mandate of the Ministry’s Child Development Department, which focuses on supporting children and families across the state.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Uwaoma Teddy Odili expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful for families raising multiple children.
