The Lagos State Government has announced a partial road closure on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to allow the Federal Ministry of Works undertake rehabilitation on failed sections of the road.

Eko Hot News reports that the repair will cover the stretch from U-Turn Bus Stop to Sango Tollgate, affecting both inbound and outbound lanes for four weeks.

The rehabilitation is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and end on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The project will be executed in two phases to minimise traffic disruption and maintain steady vehicular movement.

Phase One will run from February 11 to March 4, 2026, covering the U-Turn Bus Stop inward Sango Tollgate on the Abeokuta-bound carriageway.

During this phase, traffic from Lagos and Abule-Egba toward Abeokuta and Sango will be diverted to one half of the carriageway, about 20 metres away from the active work zone.

Rehabilitation will be carried out one lane at a time, with traffic redirected to completed sections as work progresses. Motorists on the Lagos-bound carriageway will experience free flow of traffic.

Phase Two will take place from March 4 to March 11, 2026, covering Obadeyi Bus Stop to Ekoro Junction on the Lagos-bound carriageway.

Traffic from Abeokuta and Sango Tollgate toward Lagos and Abule-Egba will be diverted through one half of the road, approximately 20 metres from the construction zone.

As in Phase One, work will be completed in halves, with traffic redirected to rehabilitated sections. Abeokuta-bound motorists will maintain uninterrupted movement.

The State Government assured residents that adequate traffic management measures would be deployed throughout the rehabilitation period.
