Education District II Marks Yuletide with Carol Service

Lagos State Education District II has marked the Christmas season with its annual Carol and Nine Lessons service, bringing together education stakeholders to reflect on the significance of the yuletide and promote unity within the district.

Eko Hot News reports that the event was organized to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and to appreciate God’s faithfulness over the year, while strengthening fellowship among staff and education partners within the district.

In his welcome address, the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, described the service as an opportunity to reflect on the gift of life and salvation made possible through the birth of Christ.

He expressed gratitude for divine guidance and protection throughout the year.

Mr. Sanni encouraged staff members to use the season to renew their commitment to unity, friendship, and selfless service, noting that collective effort and harmony remain vital to the growth of the education sector.

The sermon was delivered by the Principal of Immaculate Heart Comprehensive Senior High School, Mr. Bodunrin James, who highlighted the birth of Christ as a symbol of hope and redemption for humanity. He described Jesus Christ as a divine blessing whose life and teachings continue to inspire positive values.

The Nine Lessons segment featured scriptural readings by Directors from the Education District and chairmen of the All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Public Schools, while the Tutor-General and Permanent Secretary delivered the Ninth Lesson.

The service attracted notable education stakeholders, including the Nigeria Union of Teachers Chairman, Ikorodu Branch, Comrade Temitope Daodu, alongside representatives of other zonal NUT chairmen.

The celebration was enriched with musical performances, drama presentations, Ewi recitations, and choral renditions by students, teachers, and staff of the District Headquarters, adding colour and vibrancy to the programme.

Participants described the event as spiritually uplifting and timely, reinforcing the values of love, peace, and togetherness that define the Christmas season and the mission of public education in Lagos State.
