Members of the Lagos Agrinnovation Club have undertaken an industry-focused tour of key state-owned food production facilities to deepen their understanding of modern agricultural systems and food value chains.
Eko Hot News reports that the tour covered the Lagos State Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub and the Lagos Rice Mill, where participants gained firsthand exposure to large-scale, technology-driven food processing, storage and distribution operations.
The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to groom the next generation of agripreneurs in Lagos State. Organisers said the initiative is designed to spark youth engagement, innovation and entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

At the Central Food Security Systems and Logistics Hub in Ketu-Ereyun, members were introduced to integrated systems that enhance food storage, quality control and efficient distribution. Officials explained how the facility supports the state’s drive toward improved food security.
Participants also toured the Lagos Rice Mill in Imota, one of the largest rice mills in sub-Saharan Africa. They observed modern rice processing techniques aimed at boosting local production and reducing reliance on imported products.
The tour provided insights into mechanised operations and supply chain management. Young agrinnovation members engaged with facility managers to understand operational standards and sustainability practices.

Stakeholders noted that exposure to such infrastructure equips youths with practical knowledge beyond classroom learning. It also bridges the gap between innovation ideas and real-sector application.
The Lagos Agrinnovation Club initiative aligns with broader state efforts to strengthen food systems. Access to training, mentorship and funding opportunities remains central to the programme’s objectives.

Organisers emphasised that empowering youths with modern agricultural skills will contribute significantly to economic growth. They added that innovation-driven agriculture can create employment and support local food production.
Participants described the experience as enlightening and motivating. Many expressed renewed interest in exploring agribusiness opportunities within Lagos State.

Agriculture experts say youth involvement is critical to ensuring sustainable food systems. By leveraging technology and modern infrastructure, Lagos continues to position itself as a hub for agribusiness development.
The tour underscores the state’s commitment to nurturing agripreneurs capable of driving long-term food security strategies. Continued collaboration between government facilities and youth-focused platforms is expected to enhance impact.
