The Lagos State Government has announced temporary road closures ahead of the highly anticipated Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2026.
Eko Hot News reports that the directive was issued through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to ensure smooth coordination of activities and public safety during the cultural celebration.
The annual Fanti Carnival is one of Lagos’ vibrant cultural events, attracting residents and visitors to celebrate heritage, music, and artistic expression.
To support the seamless hosting of the carnival, specific roads within key parts of Lagos Island will be restricted to vehicular movement.

The affected roads include King George V Road at the junction by Mobil Filling Station.
Other locations impacted are the Onikan Roundabout inbound to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).
Flagstaff House inbound to TBS will also be closed to traffic during the event.

Outer Marina by State House inbound to TBS is among the designated restricted routes.
Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building will also be cordoned off.
Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Hospital is included in the closure plan.
All road closures will commence from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the carnival.
Motorists and residents have been advised to plan their movements ahead of time.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has provided alternative routes to ease traffic movement.
Vehicles coming from Obalende towards Onikan Roundabout will be redirected to Zone 2.
Those approaching from Bonny Camp towards McEwen Bridge will be diverted accordingly.
Similarly, vehicles descending from Flagstaff House towards TBS will be rerouted to Obalende Bridge.

Motorists coming from Outer Marina towards TBS will also be redirected through Obalende Bridge.
Traffic officials will be stationed at strategic locations to guide drivers and ensure compliance.
The State Government emphasised the importance of cooperation from road users during the period.

Residents were encouraged to consider alternative transportation options where necessary.
