The fund was formally unveiled during an event held at Lagos House, Marina.

The Lagos Education Access Fund is designed to remove barriers that limit access to education for many children and young people.
Through the initiative, the state government aims to provide greater opportunities for learners and ensure that education remains accessible regardless of social or economic background.

He said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to creating inclusive pathways that allow more young people to pursue their academic goals.

Sanwo-Olu also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government institutions, development partners, and private organisations in strengthening the education sector.
He explained that such partnerships are essential in driving innovation and improving learning outcomes in schools.
The collaboration with the Education Outcomes Fund is expected to bring global expertise and innovative financing approaches into the Lagos education system.
The partnership will help support programmes that prioritise measurable education results and long-term learning improvements.

Education stakeholders at the launch commended the Lagos State Government for prioritising initiatives that support the growth and development of students.
They noted that expanding access to education contributes significantly to building a more skilled and productive population.
According to officials, the Lagos Education Access Fund will focus on programmes that enhance learning opportunities and provide support for students who require additional resources to succeed academically. The initiative also aims to strengthen education delivery systems across the state.
The programme forms part of broader efforts by the Lagos State Government to improve human capital development and ensure that more residents benefit from quality education. Authorities say strengthening education systems remains central to sustainable economic and social development.
