The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed that maintenance and sustainability of state-owned housing estates remain a top priority to protect real estate investments and ensure long-term value for residents.
Eko Hot News reports that the Commissioner for Housing, Moruf Akinderu-Fatai, made this known during the Ministry’s two-day Annual Management Retreat held at the Conference Hotel, Abeokuta.

Akinderu-Fatai stated that the administration of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has invested in top-quality infrastructure, livable environments, and efficient facility management systems that must be sustained. He emphasised that strengthening management capacity will improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, urged directors and senior officials to leverage the retreat for practical insights that will enhance performance outcomes.

Also speaking, Tunji Odunlami, Ogun State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, acknowledged Lagos’ strides in housing development and encouraged stronger Public-Private Partnerships and inter-state collaboration.

A key session was facilitated by Sam Egube, who examined the global and national economic outlook and its implications for housing development. He highlighted the vital role of private-sector participation in driving growth in the built sector.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Abdulhafis Toriola, revealed that four additional housing estates will be commissioned before the end of 2026.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to affordable housing, innovation, and continuous capacity building to ensure sustainable housing development in Lagos State.
