The wives of chairmen of local governments in Lagos State Health District V have flagged off the Measles–Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, reinforcing efforts to strengthen child health and prevent vaccine-preventable diseases across communities.

Eko Hot News reports that the campaign was launched across Ajeromi-Ifelodun, Amuwo-Odofin, Badagry Local Governments and Badagry West LCDA,  following the state-level flag-off by the Wife of the Lagos State Governor.

The initiative also promotes Routine Immunisation for children aged 0–23 months and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for girls aged nine years, as part of a comprehensive approach to child and adolescent health protection.

Organised by the chairmen’s wives in collaboration with Lagos State Health District V, the campaign aims to improve child survival, increase vaccine uptake, and sustain advocacy for routine immunisation and HPV vaccination at the grassroots.

The MR vaccination drive aligns with the Lagos State Government’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda, particularly the Health and Environment pillar, which prioritises disease prevention, strengthened primary healthcare, and equitable access to quality health services.

They urged parents and caregivers to ensure children complete their routine immunisation schedules and encouraged guardians of eligible girls to embrace the HPV vaccine as protection against cervical cancer.
