The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has empowered 100 persons with disabilities (PWDs) with practical skills in sustainable entrepreneurship and business registration to enhance economic inclusion in the state.
Eko Hot News reports that the capacity-building programme, themed “Building Sustainable Enterprises: Entrepreneurial Growth and Business Registration,” was held on Tuesday, January 21, 2026, at the STO Resources Centre, Ikeja, Lagos.
In her welcome address, the General Manager of LASODA, Mrs Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his consistent support for disability inclusion. She explained that many PWDs are often excluded from grants and financial support due to lack of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration, which the programme was designed to address.

Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal said LASODA remains committed to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities through economic empowerment, stressing that the initiative aims to help participants build practical, sustainable, and continuous businesses.
She highlighted the importance of proper business documentation, financial literacy, and record-keeping, noting that CAC registration is a key requirement for accessing most business opportunities and funding.

The LASODA boss encouraged participants to overcome fear and embrace calculated risks, describing entrepreneurship as a pathway to financial independence. She urged PWD entrepreneurs to adopt modern business practices, leverage social media, and maintain high product standards to ensure sustainability.
The programme featured expert facilitators who delivered lectures on critical areas of business development. Mrs Adetutu Adedayo Ijasan delivered a session on “Taxation in Nigeria,” educating participants on the new tax system, compliance requirements, and basic bookkeeping.

Another lecture was delivered by business consultant, Mr Taiwo Shakiru Ogungbenro, who spoke on business management and entrepreneurship, equipping participants with practical strategies for growth and long-term success.
Speaking with journalists, Mrs Oyetunde-Lawal disclosed that the initiative, which began last year, was introduced to bridge gaps limiting business opportunities for PWDs and to encourage serious-minded entrepreneurs to maximise available prospects.
