The Lagos State Government has commenced medical screening for intending pilgrims preparing for the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Eko Hot News reports that the Secretary of the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mr AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, disclosed that the screening, led by Dr Mazeedat Erinosho, will run from Wednesday, January 14, 2026, to Saturday, January 24, 2026, across 10 centres in the state.
To ensure easy accessibility, the Local Government Areas have been grouped under designated screening sites and health facilities. These include Agege & Ifako-Ijaiye at Agege LGA Secretariat/General Hospital, Orile-Agege; Ikeja & Oshodi-Isolo at Ikeja LGA Secretariat/BT Diagnostic Centre, LASUTH; and Shomolu & Mushin at Mushin LGA Secretariat/Bukyano Medical Diagnostic.

Other centres include Eti-Osa, Epe & Ibeju-Lekki at General Hospital, Ibeju-Lekki; Badagry & Ojo at General Hospital, Badagry; Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa & Ajeromi-Ifelodun at Ajeromi LGA Secretariat/Bukyano Medical Diagnostic; Surulere, Lagos Mainland & Lagos Island at Surulere LGA Secretariat/Bukyano Medical Diagnostic; Ikorodu & Kosofe at Ikorodu LGA Secretariat/GH Ikorodu; Alimosho at Alimosho LGA Secretariat/Bukyano Diagnostic; and government officials at Adeyemi-Bero/BT Diagnostic LASUTH, Ikeja.
Ajomagberin warned that any intending pilgrim failing to present themselves for the screening would be denied an entry visa by the Saudi embassy.

Meanwhile, the Board has appointed Local Government Schedule Officers to coordinate the welfare of pilgrims in Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. Coordinators include Sanusi-Alaka Hajara (Agege), Kadiri Kudirat Oluwatoyin (Ajeromi), Bello Aminat Yetunde (Alimosho), Oladipupo Sherifat Abeni (Amuwo-Odofin), among others.
The appointments were approved by the Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, with the Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Hon. Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe, also present at the coordination meeting in Alausa, Ikeja

Ajomagberin urged all Schedule Officers to ensure pilgrims enjoy comfort and a seamless Hajj experience, emphasising the State Government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for fulfilling the spiritual obligation.
