The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has dismissed five officers and sanctioned 14 others following confirmed cases of professional misconduct across different duty posts in the state.

Eko Hot News reports that the disciplinary action was approved after internal investigations found the affected officers culpable of actions that violated operational standards and damaged public confidence in traffic enforcement.

According to the agency, the dismissed officers were involved in serious infractions, while the sanctioned personnel received penalties ranging from suspension and fines to compulsory retraining, depending on the severity of their offences.

The Head of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, said the measures reflect the agency’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and ethical conduct. He stressed that maintaining public trust remains central to the authority’s mandate.

Oreagba noted that the agency operates a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, abuse of authority, and unprofessional behaviour, adding that officers are expected to conduct themselves with integrity at all times while on duty.

He encouraged residents to report any observed cases of misconduct through official complaint channels, assuring the public that all reports are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly.

The authority explained that continuous monitoring and performance evaluation systems have been strengthened to prevent future misconduct and improve service delivery on Lagos roads.

Affected officers, according to the statement, were duly informed of their penalties and guided on appeal procedures where applicable, in line with civil service regulations.

LASTMA reaffirmed its resolve to enforce traffic laws fairly and professionally, noting that disciplinary actions are necessary to sustain order, safety, and accountability across the state’s traffic management framework.

The agency added that the sanctions serve as a warning to all officers that deviations from professional standards will attract appropriate consequences.
