The Lagos State Government, in partnership with the Iru Kingdom, has unveiled plans for the maiden Oniru Business and Cultural Day alongside the launch of the Oniru Business Network.

Eko Hot News reports that the announcement was made at a press conference held at the palace of the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, where key government officials, traditional leaders, and stakeholders gathered to outline the objectives of the landmark events.

Speaking at the briefing, the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, described the initiative as a strategic response to the need for structure, collaboration, and sustainable partnerships in driving grassroots economic development.

She explained that the Oniru Business and Cultural Day, scheduled for February 14, 2026, will provide a platform for indigenous and expatriate businesses to showcase products and services while engaging potential clients, investors, and collaborators.

According to the commissioner, the event will also convene government ministries, departments and agencies, financial institutions, development partners, and private sector players to address practical issues such as access to finance, regulatory compliance, infrastructure, tourism development, digital adoption, local content, and youth employment.

Mrs. Bada Ambrose noted that the cultural component of the event is designed to promote inclusion and identity, stressing that economic development thrives best where people feel recognised and respected within their communities.

She further disclosed that the initiative will extend beyond a one-day event through the Oniru Business Network, which will serve as a continuous engagement platform for businesses operating within and around Iru Kingdom.

The network, she said, will maintain a living registry of businesses, organise periodic forums, support capacity-building programmes, and facilitate structured communication between entrepreneurs and government agencies.

In his remarks, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, CON, Abisogun II, said the initiatives were conceived to create a credible and trusted interface for stakeholders whose activities and aspirations intersect within the kingdom.

The monarch emphasised that the Oniru Business and Cultural Day is not merely a ceremonial or entertainment-driven event, but a deliberate intervention to organise how culture, commerce, community, and governance interact.
