Lagos State has concluded a three-day capacity-building programme for over 200 health officers on the newly launched Lagos Health Logistics Management Information System (LHLMIS).

Eko Hot News reports that the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry targeted Last Mile Logistics Officers responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supplies of medicines and health products in public health facilities.

Declaring the programme open, the Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Pharm. Olawale Poluyi stated that the LHLMIS reflects the state’s commitment to a data-driven and transparent supply chain system.

She noted that the platform was developed in partnership with the Saving One Million Lives Program for Results to reduce stockouts, curb wastage, and improve accountability.

Represented by the Coordinator of the Logistics Management Coordinating Unit, Pharm. Margaret Adedapo, Poluyi explained that the State previously relied on the National Health LMIS with bi-monthly reporting.

She said the new state-owned platform enables weekly reporting, offering real-time insights into stock levels, consumption patterns, expiries, and discrepancies across key health programmes.

She disclosed that 51 health facilities were selected for the pilot phase, including all general hospitals, one primary health centre per local government area, and other strategic service delivery points, with five officers trained per facility to ensure integrated logistics management.

Pharm. Adedapo added that the training was conducted in five batches to strengthen ownership at the facility level and prepare stakeholders for a statewide rollout within six months, stressing that the system would improve commodity security and patient satisfaction.

She further noted that the LHLMIS builds on earlier innovations by incorporating cloud-based reporting, automated alerts, analytics, and centralised digital records, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 3 and Lagos State’s Universal Health Coverage agenda.
