The leadership of Lagos State Health District III has been commended for adopting innovative and technology-driven strategies that are improving healthcare delivery and access for residents.

Eko Hot News reports that the commendations were given by the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, and the Special Adviser on Health, Dr Kemi Ogunyemi, during the District’s annual Management Retreat held at Parkview Estate, Ikoyi.

Mr Agoro described Lagos as unique for operating six health districts led by Permanent Secretaries, noting that the structure has encouraged innovation, healthy competition, and improved access to quality healthcare across communities.

He praised Health District III for its consistency and impact, highlighting the deployment of technology such as QR code platforms that allow residents to submit requests and complaints, including voice messages for non-literate users.

Prof. Abayomi reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology and data-driven solutions to enhance transparency, efficiency, and fairness in healthcare service delivery.

He urged healthcare workers to embrace innovation and align operations with global best practices to improve patient outcomes across the state.

In her goodwill message, Dr Ogunyemi commended the Permanent Secretary of Health District III, Dr Monsurat Adeleke, and her team for strengthening primary healthcare and advancing the state’s health agenda.

She described the retreat theme, “Advancing Quality Healthcare Through Technology and Data-Driven Solutions,” as timely and aligned with Lagos State’s strategic vision for healthcare reform.

Addressing participants, Dr Adeleke reviewed the district’s performance for the year and unveiled a renewed strategy focused on technology and real-time data to transform healthcare delivery.

She stressed that traditional methods are no longer sufficient to meet modern healthcare demands, particularly for mothers, children, and vulnerable groups.

The Permanent Secretary highlighted key achievements, including zero maternal deaths in Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki LGAs, as well as expanded outreach to riverine communities through integrated medical programmes.
