Dr Ogunyemi commended HEFAMAA, led by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Abiola Idowu, for convening the forum, describing it as timely and critical to addressing gaps in healthcare service delivery across public and private facilities.

She stressed that maternal and child health remains a core priority of the state’s health agenda, noting that the well-being of mothers and children reflects the quality, safety, and accessibility of healthcare services.

The Special Adviser explained that regulatory compliance is essential for patient safety and public trust, adding that non-compliance with existing health regulations remains a major challenge affecting service standards.

She identified proper adherence to regulations on staffing, infrastructure, drug management, service delivery, and data reporting as vital to reducing preventable maternal and child deaths in the state.

Dr Ogunyemi reaffirmed the state government’s resolve to strengthen health sector regulation through supportive policies, capacity building, and sustained collaboration with healthcare stakeholders.

In her remarks, HEFAMAA Permanent Secretary, Dr Abiola Idowu, emphasised that improved health outcomes require not only strong regulations but also continuous cooperation among health facility operators and regulators.
