Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA), Dr Folakemi Animashaun, described the plan as a product of inclusive stakeholder engagement and shared responsibility.

She noted that the framework was developed in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

Dr Animashaun explained that the plan provides a clear roadmap for HIV prevention over the next two years, with priorities including integration of HIV services into primary healthcare, expansion of PrEP and PEP, elimination of mother-to-child transmission, condom programming, stigma reduction, harm reduction strategies, and community-led interventions.

The LSACA boss also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his sustained commitment to health and human capital development, describing his leadership as instrumental to strengthening HIV prevention within Lagos State’s broader development agenda.

Earlier, LSACA Director of Projects, Mr Michael Essien, presented an overview of the plan, highlighting government-led strategies such as targeted sensitisation for artisans, engagement of traditional birth attendants, stigma reduction campaigns, and the establishment of PMTCT centres in state-owned health facilities.
