Lagos Unveils 2025 Festive Lights

Eko Hot News reports that the colourful ceremony, sponsored by Nigerian Breweries Plc, was held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Chief Obafemi Awolowo Monument on Obafemi Awolowo Way, Ikeja. The Commissioner was represented by Deputy Director, Mrs. Olajumoke James.

In her remarks, Benson-Awoyinka commended Nigerian Breweries for championing a project that blends aesthetics, culture, and economic value. She described the initiative as a major contribution to Lagos State’s creative and tourism ecosystem, noting that it aligns with the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Agenda to promote tourism, strengthen social cohesion, and position Lagos as a global hub for culture and innovation.

She added that illuminating the Chief Obafemi Awolowo Monument and the entire stretch of Obafemi Awolowo Way not only enhances the city’s visual appeal but also symbolizes unity, shared joy, and the vibrant energy of Lagos residents during the festive period.

The Commissioner expressed delight that this year’s activation features community engagement activities, including live performances, artistic showcases, and youth-driven creative expressions. These activities, she noted, will boost local commerce, provide safe entertainment for families, and deepen cultural appreciation across the state.

Benson-Awoyinka equally applauded Maltina, the flagship sponsor for the 2025 edition, for its long-standing corporate social responsibility and contribution to Lagos’ tourism growth. She emphasized the importance of continuous public–private partnerships in expanding the state’s tourism economy.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the tourism, arts, and culture sector, she stated that Lagos remains focused on creating world-class experiences that attract visitors, encourage investment, and solidify the state’s position as a leading global destination.

She urged residents to celebrate responsibly and make the most of the various activities lined up for the season.
