Cheryl Hines says the stress surrounding Donald Trump’s political orbit and her husband, RFK Jr.’s support for him, triggered a health scare.

Eko Hot News reports that the actress, known for her role on Curb Your Enthusiasm, revealed in a recent interview that the emotional pressure tied to Donald Trump, her husband’s political decisions, and heightened security fears reached a point that landed her in urgent care. Hines, 60, said the combination of personal loss and political chaos led to “dark times” that affected both her physical and mental well-being.

Hines claims that after Robert F. Kennedy Jr. began his presidential campaign in April 2023, her life drastically changed. Kennedy, who is currently the Secretary of Health and Human Services in Trump’s second cabinet, was not yet protected by the Secret Service. Hines described the circumstances as “unacceptable,” claiming that she spent evenings fully clothed and wearing shoes, ready to face danger at any time. She remembered getting calls alerting her to the presence of armed people at Kennedy’s rallies who wanted to speak with him directly.

Hines Says Trump Drama Hit Health

Tensions escalated further after the July assassination attempt on President Trump. Hines met with Trump just days later, and the encounter deeply shook her. She said the bandage on Trump’s ear, marking how close a bullet came to his head, made her confront the possibility of sudden violence in her husband’s daily campaigning. The meeting triggered a severe stress reaction. “My body went into overdrive, and I broke out into hives,” she said.

That same evening, Hines’ stress surged again when RFK Jr. told her he was considering dropping out of the race and endorsing Trump. She said Kennedy and Trump “connected on a lot of levels” and shared similar goals, but the intensified political pressure became overwhelming. Her lips began to swell, she feared her throat might start to close, and she rushed to urgent care for treatment.

Due to Kennedy’s political affiliation with Trump, as well as the attempted assassination, Trump’s presence hung over much of the unrest and served as the main source of stress in Hines’ story. Kennedy’s outspoken views on public health and his decision to leave the Democratic Party in order to support Trump have drawn a lot of criticism, keeping the pair in the public eye.

Hines admitted that people frequently ask her why she is still married to Kennedy. She talked about extremes on both sides: ardent fans and steadfast detractors. She stated that it became crucial for her to speak up and share her personal experience, pointing out that doing so keeps her grounded and keeps others from “misinterpreting” her viewpoint.

Still, Hines said she is now learning to focus on the positive and regain control of her life. She emphasized that, despite never imagining herself immersed in politics, she has found meaning in learning more about the political landscape. “I feel like I’m at a place now where I can appreciate what’s happening in my life,” she said. “I feel strong and ready, and I’m having a really good time with the people around me.”
