Dele Farotimi, Nigerian writer and human rights activist, Dele Farotimi, has reacted to a statement made by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, urging Nigerians to unite and defend the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s comment came after U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly threatened military action over allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria. In a report published on the official X handle of Vanguard, the Lagos governor called on citizens to rally behind the federal government.
“Let us go out there, be proud and defend this government. They are doing the right things,” Sanwo-Olu was quoted as saying.
Reacting to the statement, Dele Farotimi took to his official X handle on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, to express his displeasure. He referenced the October 20, 2020, Lekki Tollgate shooting, which occurred during the #EndSARS protests in Lagos.

In his post, Farotimi wrote:
