The Lagos State Government has reinforced its commitment to implementing the Lagos State Development Plan (LSDP) 2052 with the unveiling of a new tracking dashboard designed to improve accountability and monitor progress across government institutions.
Eko Hot News reports that the Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB) introduced the LSDP 2052 Tracking Dashboard during a Stakeholders’ Parley held on Tuesday at the Protea Hotel, Alausa, Ikeja.
The event brought together Accounting Officers and senior officials from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). The gathering focused on strengthening collaboration, aligning institutional priorities and advancing the successful implementation of the State’s long-term development agenda.
The Stakeholders’ Parley was themed, “Achieving Lagos’ Vision: Africa’s Model Mega-City, a Global Economic and Financial Hub that is Safe, Secure, Functional and Productive.” The theme reflected the government’s commitment to sustainable growth and effective governance.
According to the Ministry, the newly introduced tracking dashboard is a strategic performance management platform. It is designed to improve accountability, strengthen inter-agency coordination and support evidence-based decision-making across MDAs.
The platform will also enable government agencies to monitor the progress of development initiatives in real time. Officials said it will help identify implementation challenges early while providing measurable performance indicators for informed policy decisions.
Welcoming participants, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, described the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 as the government’s strategic blueprint for sustainable development.
She explained that the development plan outlines clear priorities, measurable outcomes and defined responsibilities for every Ministry, Department and Agency in Lagos State.
Mrs. Ojo said Accounting Officers play a critical role in translating the vision of the development plan into practical results. She noted that effective planning, prudent resource management and timely project execution remain essential to achieving the State’s objectives.
She encouraged participants to exchange ideas, identify implementation challenges and propose practical solutions that would improve institutional performance and accelerate the delivery of development projects across Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Lekan Balogun.
In his keynote address, the Commissioner described the Lagos State Development Plan 2052 as the collective vision of Lagos over the next three decades. He said the plan provides a roadmap for building a globally competitive, economically resilient and socially inclusive city.
According to him, the successful implementation of the development plan depends on disciplined execution, sustainable financing, effective collaboration and continuous monitoring.
Mr. George said the unveiling of the LSDP 2052 Tracking Dashboard marks a significant milestone in strengthening performance management across government institutions.
He explained that the dashboard will provide government officials with real-time information on project implementation, allowing them to monitor progress, detect challenges early and improve decision-making.
The Commissioner stressed that planning and budgeting must remain closely linked to ensure development priorities are adequately reflected in annual budgets.
He noted that aligning public expenditure with strategic priorities would improve service delivery and maximise value for Lagos residents.
Mr. George also called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies to deepen collaboration and strengthen data management to ensure the successful implementation of government programmes.
He urged public institutions to improve the quality of reporting, reduce implementation delays and embrace collective ownership of the Lagos State Development Plan.
According to the Commissioner, the future of Lagos depends not only on the quality of its plans but also on the consistency and professionalism applied during implementation.
He stated that accountability, collaboration and disciplined execution remain essential to transforming Lagos into Africa’s model mega-city and a leading global economic hub.
Stakeholders at the event reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the implementation framework of the development plan through stronger institutional coordination and improved performance monitoring.
The Lagos State Government believes the tracking dashboard will promote transparency, improve project delivery and strengthen public sector accountability across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Officials also expressed confidence that the initiative will accelerate the achievement of the State’s long-term economic, social and environmental development goals.
