The Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Community Development Service (CDS) group, is set to hold a consumer empowerment outreach in Surulere.

Eko Hot News reports that the campaign is scheduled for Friday, June 19, and is designed to educate residents on consumer rights, responsibilities, and fair marketplace practices.

The initiative is part of efforts to strengthen public awareness on consumer protection and reduce exploitation in the market system across Lagos State.

According to LASCOPA, the “Know Your Rights” advocacy programme will engage residents, traders, artisans, and service providers on key consumer issues.

Officials said the outreach will highlight the right to quality goods and services, transparent pricing, and the importance of receipts and product warranties.

The General Manager of LASCOPA, Mr. Afolabi Solebo, noted that the campaign reflects the agency’s commitment to building a fair and transparent marketplace.

He explained that the programme aims to empower consumers with knowledge that will help them make informed purchasing decisions.

Mr. Solebo added that the agency will also use the platform to discourage unfair trade practices and misleading advertisements.

Residents will be sensitized on how to identify defective products and report cases of poor service delivery.

The campaign will also encourage consumers to speak up against shortchanging and unethical business conduct.
