The Lagos State Government has presented certificates of participation to all 1,600 pilgrims who successfully completed the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Eko Hot News reports that the certificates were presented in Makkah by Local Government Coordinators on behalf of the Amir-ul-Hajj and Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode.
The recognition was given to the pilgrims in appreciation of their exemplary conduct, cooperation, and commitment throughout the spiritual exercise. State officials described their behaviour as commendable and worthy of emulation.
Hon. Layode congratulated the pilgrims for representing Lagos State positively during the pilgrimage. He noted that their discipline and responsiveness reflected the values expected of ambassadors of the state.
The commissioner praised the pilgrims for demonstrating patience, responsibility, and dedication throughout the Hajj rites. He described them as shining examples whose conduct brought honour to Lagos.
According to him, the spiritual journey offered valuable lessons that extend beyond the pilgrimage. He encouraged participants to apply the virtues of endurance, resilience, and self-discipline in their daily lives.
Layode also urged the pilgrims to strengthen their relationships with others and contribute positively to their communities. He said the experience should inspire greater commitment to service and personal growth.
Meanwhile, the state government confirmed that the return of pilgrims to Nigeria is progressing smoothly. Airlift operations are being carried out according to the schedule approved by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
A total of 1,032 Lagos pilgrims have already returned home from Saudi Arabia. The second and third batches arrived through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on Wednesday and Thursday.
State officials expressed satisfaction with the coordination of the return exercise. They noted that the process has remained orderly and efficient since the commencement of the airlift operation.
The Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the comfort and welfare of all returning pilgrims. Relevant agencies have continued to monitor the process to guarantee seamless arrivals.
Authorities disclosed that the remaining pilgrims are expected to arrive in the final phases of the operation. The fourth and fifth flights have been scheduled to complete the return exercise.
Officials said arrangements remain in place to receive the remaining pilgrims and facilitate their safe return to their respective communities across Lagos State.
The successful completion of the pilgrimage and return process reflects the collaborative efforts of state authorities, coordinators, and relevant stakeholders involved in the exercise.
Religious leaders have also commended the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage, noting that effective planning contributed significantly to the positive experience enjoyed by participants.
For many pilgrims, the Hajj journey represents a significant spiritual milestone. The completion of the exercise is expected to inspire renewed dedication to faith, community service, and personal development.
As Lagos welcomes more pilgrims home, the state government remains focused on ensuring that all participants conclude the journey comfortably and with lasting memories of a fulfilling spiritual experience.
