The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy has hosted the third edition of the Lagos Leadership Summit, bringing together policymakers, business leaders, and emerging changemakers to advance discussions on sustainable governance and national development.
Eko Hot News reports that the summit was held at Livespot Entertarium, drawing participants from across sectors to explore strategies for strengthening governance systems in Nigeria.
Themed “Building Systems That Outlive Us,” the summit focused on the importance of institutional strength, policy continuity, and governance frameworks that remain effective beyond individual tenures. Participants highlighted the need for structures that ensure consistency in leadership and decision-making.
Speakers at the event stressed that Nigeria’s development challenges are not due to a shortage of ideas but are largely linked to weak systems that fail to sustain progress. They noted that durable institutions are essential for achieving long-term national goals.

Throughout keynote sessions, panel discussions, and fireside chats, contributors encouraged a transition from personality-driven leadership to systems-driven governance. They emphasised that strong institutions can provide stability and continuity regardless of changes in leadership.
Participants also discussed the role of accountability, transparency, and data-driven decision-making in building effective governance systems. According to speakers, these elements are critical to ensuring that policies are implemented efficiently and consistently.
The summit provided a platform for public and private sector leaders to exchange ideas and share experiences on governance reforms. Stakeholders highlighted the importance of collaboration in addressing systemic challenges and strengthening institutional frameworks.

Emerging leaders in attendance were encouraged to adopt innovative approaches to governance while maintaining a focus on sustainability. Speakers noted that future leaders must prioritise long-term impact over short-term gains.
The event also underscored the importance of mentorship and leadership development in sustaining progress. Participants agreed that investing in human capital is key to building resilient institutions that can adapt to evolving challenges.

Organisers reaffirmed their commitment to fostering dialogue and capacity building through the summit series. They noted that the Lagos Leadership Summit remains a vital platform for shaping governance conversations and inspiring transformative leadership.
Stakeholders concluded that building systems that endure requires collective effort, consistency, and a shared vision for national development. They expressed optimism that sustained dialogue and collaboration will contribute to stronger institutions in Nigeria.
